Makers Alley Celebrates One Year with Exciting New Retailers in NHID

Kane Realty Corporation is thrilled to announce the addition of two dynamic new retailers to Makers Alley at North Hills Innovation District (NHID): A Lil’ R + R  and Unlikely Professionals. These exciting local businesses will further enhance the vibrant, walkable retail experience that Makers Alley has cultivated since its launch one year ago.

A Lil’ R + R is a cozy, colorful new boutique by artist and product designer Emily Petrilla, offering gifts, self-care, and a little something for your four-legged friends too. The shop features a curated mix of stationery, home goods, puzzles, pet products, and playful everyday items designed to bring joy and rest into your day. Alongside Emily’s own illustrated goods—like greeting cards, notepads, and stickers—you’ll also find a rotating selection of products from local makers and small businesses.

Beyond shopping, A Lil’ R + R will also host creative workshops and community events, giving you a chance to slow down, connect, and make something meaningful. Whether you’re treating yourself or someone you love, this space is your new go-to for a little joy, a little rest, and a whole lot of charm.

Unlikely Professionals, owned and operated by Jessie Williams and Derek Keller—who also own the beloved Edge of Urge—will be opening a new version of Unlikely Professionals in two connected spaces within Makers Alley. One side will function as a stylish bar and home goods store, while the other will offer a curated selection of premium apparel, accessories, giftables, and more.

Unlikely Professionals will feature a beer and natural wine program, adding another layer of hospitality and community engagement to the space. They will also host events such as their longstanding “Tarot & Toast” night that includes wine tastings coupled with tarot readings.

Makers Alley, consisting of micro-retail spaces ranging from 485 to 1,081 square feet, is designed to serve as a launchpad for hyper-local purveyors and artisans. This innovative retail concept provides entrepreneurs with the opportunity to establish a brick-and-mortar presence without the high costs associated with traditional retail spaces. In just one year, Makers Alley has become a destination for creativity, community, and small business growth.

To celebrate its one-year anniversary, Makers Alley will host a special event on Saturday, April 5th from 11am to 2pm. The event will feature local vendors, drinks, live music, giveaways, and more, inviting the community to shop local and welcome these exciting new retailers opening in Spring 2025.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the success of Makers Alley over the past year and the incredible entrepreneurs and artisans we continue to welcome to the area,” said Mary Ehrenberger, Retail Leasing and Activation Specialist for Kane Realty Corporation. “It is truly such a special place, and we look forward to seeing these businesses and the entire community thrive.”
