As the Residential Property Manager of The Avenues at RTP, Samantha Hicks manages all property-level operations, including everything from resident relations to maintenance coordination, and provides financial oversight while ensuring compliance with local regulations. With a background in property management since 2020 and over 10 years in customer service, Samantha has developed a strong foundation in problem-solving, communication, and creating meaningful connections with people. This experience allows her to navigate challenges efficiently and to create an exceptional living experience for all residents of The Avenues at RTP.
Outside of work, Samantha is an avid gardener with a deep love for plants. Whether cultivating her own garden or researching new plant varieties, she finds great joy in nurturing growth—both in nature and in her professional life. She has always believed in the value of hands-on experience and continuous learning, and is passionate about seeking opportunities to enhance her expertise in property management.
Ronda Kunsman serves as Vice President of Residential Operations, where she oversees all residential operations with a focus on enhancing performance and driving business growth. She is responsible for guiding teams to achieve exceptional results and reach new levels of success.
Upon joining the Kane Realty team in 2025, Ronda brought nearly 20 years’ worth of leadership experience in the property management industry, including prior roles as Vice President of Operations with Bell Partners and Assistant Vice President with Post Properties. She has a proven track record of managing large portfolios, building strong teams, and delivering excellent results for clients.
Ronda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from George Mason University and maintains professional certifications including Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) and Accredited Commercial Manager (ACoM). Outside of work, Ronda enjoys watching her son play baseball, working on her non-profit organization, Dugout Donations, and traveling and spending time with her family, including her boxer, Maris.
Rachel Martin is the Residential Property Manager of The Line, a 283-unit mixed-use community located in Smoky Hollow, a district of Downtown Raleigh. She oversees the day-to-day operations, resident and team relations, budgeting, and the overall financial performance of the property. Rachel joined the Kane Realty team in April 2023, bringing years of experience in luxury hospitality and multi-site management.
As a North Carolina native, Rachel has experienced life in different cities across the state, with Raleigh standing out as her favorite. She attended North Carolina State University, where she graduated with a degree in Animal Science with a concentration in Veterinary Bioscience. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including her two dogs. She loves to travel, stay active, enjoy the outdoors, and occasionally find time for a good book.
As a Residential Property Manager, Brandon Campbell oversees the day-to-day operations of two Downtown Raleigh apartment communities: The Acorn on Person Street and Mordecai on Clover Townhomes. Brandon joined the Kane Realty team in 2017 and has worked at several properties in the company’s portfolio since moving into a full-time role once he graduated from college.
Brandon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Digital Media from NC State University. In his spare time, he can be found spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking.
As a Marketing Specialist on the Residential Property Management team, Malea Hochstein assists with marketing, branding, digital advertising, social media, and community outreach efforts for many of the company’s multifamily communities. Malea joined the Kane Realty team in 2023; prior to her current marketing role, she served as a Leasing Specialist at Platform in Downtown Raleigh.
Malea holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from East Carolina University. In her spare time, she enjoys indoor cycling, reading, vacationing at the beach, hosting and planning events, and spending time with family and friends. You can also find her trying out all the new restaurants and bars in Raleigh!
Amber Yassem is the Residential Property Manager of Proximity New Bern, a 252-unit community located in New Bern. Amber joined the Kane Realty team in 2023, bringing over 19 years’ experience in the multifamily industry. Prior to joining Kane Realty she worked for Morgan Properties in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Amber is originally from Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and she moved to New Bern in the summer of 2023. She is a graduate of Fayetteville State University with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Outside of work, Amber enjoys exploring new places, fishing, watching football (Go Steelers!), painting and spending time with her fur babies.
Emily Long is the Senior Residential Property Manager for the Downtown Durham market. In this role, she leads all day-to-day operations for Venable Durham and Terrazzo Durham Apartments. She joined the Kane Realty team in April 2024 following previous roles with Cortland Partners and Cushman & Wakefield.
A native of Willow Spring, Emily joined the multifamily industry while attending college in 2019. In her free time, she enjoys a quiet life at home with her two Australian shepherd rescues, Pike and Koda, and her Maine coon cat, Charlie Vane. She is an active runner and often participates in local charity races to raise money for low-vision research and blindness awareness. These causes are close to her heart; Emily has a rare form of Stargardt disease, a genetic condition that impairs her central vision.
Tyrus Hinton began his career in property management in 2015, initially gaining valuable experience in maintenance before transitioning to the office team in 2019. His diverse skill set and dedication to the industry led him to join Kane Realty as the Assistant Property Manager of The Reverie in 2023. Tyrus is also a CAM (Certified Apartment Manager), showcasing his advanced knowledge and expertise in property management.
Originally from Queens, Tyrus relocated to North Carolina. Outside of work, Tyrus is passionate about traveling, enjoys quality time with his two children, and is an avid cook. He is also committed to giving back to the community through his involvement with various non-profit organizations.
Michael Hester is the Senior Residential Manager of The Eastern and Park Central Apartments in the exciting Park District of North Hills. In this area management role, he leads the day-to-day initiatives, operations, tracks key performance metrics, and completes all financial reporting for the two assets. Getting to lead a large team of associates is one of the highlights of his day, with the goal of providing the best resident experience and achieving strong financial performance. Michael joined Kane Realty in 2024, bringing over 17 years of expertise in the real estate industry throughout various markets. He began his property management career in the student housing sector in 2006 in Chapel Hill, NC.
Prior to joining Kane Realty team, Michael spent the last 10 years with Cortland Partners, Hawthorne Residential, and KPM Carolinas. His knowledge of multi-site and high-rise residential stems from working in Chicago, IL, where he worked for Draper & Kramer and Madison Apartment Group in the downtown Chicago market.
Michael grew up in Hillsborough, NC, and moved to Raleigh in 2012. He is a graduate of UNC Greensboro with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology. Michael obtained his Certified Apartment Manager designation in 2007, NC Broker’s license in 2014, and is also a Notary Public. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with family and friends, live music, home improvement projects, discovering the next abandoned mansion on YouTube, and his sweet dog, Pippa.
